Apple to make chips in the US


Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced a new multi-billion dollar deal with Broadcom for the development of 5G radio frequency components in the United States, according to CNBC.


"We are thrilled to take on commitments that utilize the ingenuity, creativity, and innovative spirit of American manufacturing," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.


According to the press release, the 5G radio components developed by Broadcom will include FBAR filters and other wireless communication components. These components differ from 5G modems produced by Qualcomm.
